Notified Body R&TTE
The R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council regulates the placing on the market, free movement and putting into service of radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment.

The implementation of the R&TTE Directive in German law can be found in "Gesetz über Funkanlagen und Telekommunikationsendeinrichtungen (FTEG)".

Article 3 of the Directive defines the essential requirements. These concern mainly the following areas:
  • Electrical Safety and Health (Art. 3.1a)
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (Art. 3.1b)
  • Effective Use of Radio Frequency Spectrum (Art. 3.2) (if applicable)
The manufacturer (or his authorized representative) must demonstrate the conformity with the essential requirements. The easiest way to do so is by applying the R&TTE Harmonized Standards:
The manufacturer can choose under different conformity assessment procedures. The procedures described in Annex III and IV of the Directive require a notified body to be involved.

If a Notified Body was involved in the conformity assessment procedure according to Annex III, IV or V, the CE mark shall be accompanied by the identification number of the Notified Body
